What to Know About Booking Your Trip
Hola! We’re stoked you’re considering staying with us. Before you make a reservation, please take a look through our booking policies below. We don’t want you caught off guard by any surprises. Once that’s done, we can move on to more serious matters like coming up with your surfer nickname.
We like to keep things intimate and friendly. Which is why we have six bungalows available on our property. It’s important to us that we can provide all the help, service, attention and friendliness you deserve. As a small family business, we want you to feel less like a run-of-the-mill customer, and more like a welcomed member of our surf family. Every guest counts, and so does every room. These policies help ensure we can continue to provide that level of awesomeness to you, and everyone else frothing to surf in Costa Rica.
Your Initial Reservation
Our resort books up fast. It is recommended to make your reservations as early as possible to secure your space. To make an initial reservation please contact us via email or phone. Upon initial inquiry a pre-reservation is made in your name, and will be held for 48 hours. This way you have plenty of time to decide if this is the right time to come, as well as look for flights. Please note, our prices do not include airfare. So this is the best time to confirm availability at our resort, and check flight availability. After that 48 hour period expires that spot will be up for grabs again.
Once you’ve made your decision to come (Yeeeew!), we ask for a deposit. This deposit is $700 and non-refundable. We’re going to say that again because it’s really really important. Your deposit is $700 AND non-refundable. (Please refer to our cancellation policy below for what happens to this deposit should you need to make any changes or cancellations.) Once we receive your deposit, and you fill out a reservation intake form, your room is secured and guaranteed. We accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover credit cards. After payment has been received you will be confirmed by email and via phone for your stay.
The remaining balance is to be paid no later than 60 days prior to your departure date. This final payment is non-refundable within that 60 day window. We will email you any additional information you need about your visit prior to your departure. We will also call the week you depart to go over the details, and answer any questions you have about your trip.
You are responsible for booking your flights to and from Costa Rica. Costa Rica has two international airports: one located in Liberia called Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) and one located in San José called Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO). Liberia is closer to our resort. The drive typically takes around 2-3 hours. Driving to and from San Jose typically takes 5-6 hours. Once you have your confirmed flight information, and share it with us, we will arrange ground transportation to and from our resort. We provide transportation upon your arrival and departure to and from both airpots for guests. f you miss the transportation that we provide to you for any reason — including flight delays, earlier or later departure and so on — any ground transportation via shuttle or taxi will be at your own expense.
We do not offer cash or credit card refunds — no exceptions. So please make sure you are committed to the trip before booking. We really want you to come on your trip and enjoy Costa Rica’s amazing surf, and we will work with you to make it happen. If you cancel 60 days prior to your reservation date, we will transfer your deposit payment of $700 for a future trip. If you cancel your reservation after that time — within 60 days of your reservation date — and we can sell your room, you can use any and all money paid towards a future trip. If we are not able to resell your room, your deposit payment of $700 will be forfeited, and the remaining balance can be used towards a future trip. Exceptions to our policy cannot be made for any reason whatsoever, including personal injuries, illness, political upheaval, natural disasters, emergencies, weather or any other occurrences. If we cancel your stay due to reasons beyond our control, we are not liable for any refunds or travel costs. Corky Carroll’s Surf School is not held responsible for expenses in preparation for any canceled trips due to flight cancellation, car rental, loss of work, or loss of travel delays. If you need to depart your trip early for any reason, there are no refunds partial or otherwise provided.
